On June 6th, 2010 Senate Bill 1633, amended by HB 1201, effective November 2017, otherwise known as the "School District Transparency Act" was signed into law.
This law, effective November 1, 2010, requires that the Oklahoma State Department of Education make available certain information on its website as pertaining to
Oklahoma Public School Districts' expenditures, cost descriptions, amounts of funds spent, types of transactions, and current per pupil expenditure figures.
The database does not include voluntary payroll deductions for employees to receiving parties.
On April 27, 2017 House Bill 1202 was signed into law, effective November 1, 2017. This bill provides new definitions for “per pupil expenditure” s and aggregate current expenditure. The law requires the State Department of Education to report each category of expenditures as described in the law as well as aggregate expenditures when reporting the per pupil expenditure for any purpose.
The National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) is the primary federal entity for collecting, analyzing, and reporting data related to education in the United States and other nations. NCES is a branch of the Institute of Education Sciences in the U.S. Department of Education and is authorized to collect data by Congress through the Education Sciences Reform Act of 2002.
